Muhurat Trading 2026: review your trading year before Samvat 2083
Muhurat trading 2026 is on Sunday, November 8 (Diwali, Lakshmi Pujan). Many traders treat it as a fresh start for the new Samvat. Before you place a single Muhurat trade, take 30 minutes to look honestly at the year you just traded, net of brokerage and charges. Here are the timings and a simple checklist.

The 8-step year-end review
- Gross vs charges. Add up your gross P&L and, separately, everything you paid in brokerage, STT, exchange charges, GST and stamp duty.
- Net P&L. Subtract charges from gross. This is the only number that reaches your bank account.
- Month by month. List net P&L for each month. Were profits steady, or did one or two months carry the year?
- Day of the week. Check which weekdays made or lost money. Expiry days often behave differently.
- Average win vs average loss. If your average loss is bigger than your average win, a high win rate can still lose money.
- Profit factor. Total of winning days divided by total of losing days. Below 1.0 means the year lost money overall.
- Worst day. Find your biggest single-day loss and decide on a daily loss limit you will actually respect.
- One rule for Samvat 2083. Pick one change based on what you found, write it down, and keep it in front of you.
Muhurat trading 2026 date and timings
- Date: Sunday, November 8, 2026
- Pre-open: 2:05 pm to 2:20 pm IST
- Normal market: 2:20 pm to 3:30 pm IST
The date is set in NSE's trading holiday circular. Session timings are announced separately by NSE and BSE, so confirm them with your broker on the day.
Logging the Muhurat session itself
Muhurat is a short, often thin session. Decide your position size before the session starts, keep it small if you trade at all, and log the day exactly like any other: gross P&L, charges and net P&L. It belongs in the new Samvat's records, so it's a clean first entry for the year.
If you want to see how charges are worked out, read how charges eat into F&O profit. And if you're tidying up your finances for the year, you can reconcile your bank side too.
Doing the review in Trading Journal
Trading Journal is an F&O trading journal for iPhone. You log each trading day's capital, gross P&L and charges, and it shows net P&L, ROI, win rate, a monthly breakdown and day-of-week results. Everything stays on your phone. There's no account and no broker login. This page is for record-keeping. It isn't investment advice, and nothing here suggests whether to trade in the Muhurat session.
Why use Trading Journal
- Net after charges. See what brokerage and charges took from every month.
- Patterns by day and month. Find the weekdays and months that cost you money.
- Private. No account, no broker login. Your numbers stay on your iPhone.

No. You enter your own daily numbers, so it works with any broker and never needs your login.
